Please take note: The following apps are of our own recommendations and are not ranked in any particular order.
Number One: Google Translate
It may seem pretty obvious on this one. But for the benefit of those who do not much about this app, allow us to explain. Google Translate, as its name suggests, allows you to translate words or phrases from one language to another. To put this into perspective, Indonesia’s main language is Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian). As such, tourists and expats should not be surprised if the locals that they come into contact with do not speak English. If you are familiar with the Indonesian language, you may not need this app. But for the rest of us, Google Translate can help us translate words and phrases from English to Indonesian and vice versa.

Grab is an app which allows you to book your rides on demand. This app is popular not only in Indonesia, but in other countries like Malaysia and Singapore as well. Through an easy to use interface, you can book a ride in the form of taxi, car or even a motorbike (which is probably the most popular option in traffic congested cities like Jakarta). Grab rides (especially the motorbike option) are rather affordable and with the fact that the app regularly releases a new promo code to entice users, this app can help you get around the Indonesian city that you are in

Zomato is an app that could help you sieve out all the best food in your Indonesian city.
